Privacy

We collect what it takes to get a book to your door, and nothing that would let us build a profile of you. This page says exactly what that means.

Who holds your data

Harf Studios, at Flat 104, Ove Cape, MGR Residency, Building No 8, HNR Layout, Kasavanahalli, Bengaluru 560035, India. Two of us run it, and we are the only people inside the company who see an order.

What we collect, and why

• Your name, so the parcel is addressed to someone.
• Your postal address and pincode, because a courier cannot deliver without one.
• Your email, to send the confirmation, the tracking number, and nothing else unless you ask.
• Your phone number, because couriers call before they deliver.

That is the list. We do not ask your age, your gender, or why you want to learn Urdu.

What we never see

Your card number, your CVV, your UPI PIN, your bank login. Payments are handled by Cashfree Payments and those details go straight to them. They never touch our servers, so we could not leak them if we tried.

Who else sees your data

• Cashfree Payments, to take the payment and to tell us it succeeded.
• The courier carrying your parcel, which gets your name, address and phone number. It cannot deliver without them.
• Resend, which sends our email.

Nobody else. We do not sell your data, rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. If a law or a court requires disclosure, we comply, and that is the only other case.

The waitlist

If you ask to be told when a book comes out, we store your email against that book. It gets used once, for that announcement, and then you can ask us to drop it. It is not a newsletter and we will not start sending you one.

How long we keep it

Order records stay with us for eight years, because tax and accounting rules in India require it. Waitlist emails are deleted once the announcement has gone out, or whenever you ask, whichever comes first.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and runs no analytics that follow you between sites. The only thing stored in your browser is your choice of script on the poem pages, which stays on your device.

Your rights

Ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you. Ask us to correct it and we will. Ask us to delete it and we will, except for the order records the tax rules make us keep.
